BA 101 WFY

When I think of global companies, social enterprise is not one of the categories I associate them with. I always thought before that global companies are those big players dominating the business world, with the sole goal of maximizing profit. And that notion is even more biased towards those companies planning to go global. But after the talk given by Miss Dia Lacaba, a manager of Human Nature, my view on global companies have changed. It is replaced by the overwhelming feeling of inspiration and hope that businesses are ways for the world to change for the better.

Human Nature, according to Miss Lacaba’s introduction, is a leading global social enterprise, manufacturing genuinely natural personal care and home care products in the Philippines. It is a seven year old company, with a vision to be “a globally successful business with a heart that will embolden all businesses to better serve society”. With its three advocacies – pro-Philippines, pro-poor and pro-environment – the company continues to grow globally while managing sustainability and strengthening relationships with their stakeholders. It is through these advocacies that their vision of a global social enterprise has, little by little, came to fruition.

Miss Lacaba’s story of how she went from an already renowned global brand to a newly striving global company, inspired me at the utmost. She came back to Human Nature for the reason that she believed in the company’s vision of global social service.
