Outdoor Education

Everyone at Triway looks forward to going to Outdoor Education at Round Lake when they are in sixth grade. I was so excited for the day that I got to go to Outdoor Ed. I remember being in fifth grade and hearing all the sixth graders talking about how awesome it was when they came back. They talked about all the cool friends they had met, their high school tribe leaders being crazy and loud, campfire songs they sang, and much more. Hearing all of this made me so anxious and excited for the day that I got to go. Outdoor Education at Triway consists of three days and two nights. I was never really nervous about leaving my parents for a couple of days, I knew that I would be fine. I remember going over the checklist many times to make sure I packed everything in my suitcase. We boarded the bus at my elementary school very early that morning and then we were off to Round Lake. Right when we got there, I already knew I was going to have a great time. I always looked up to the highschoolers at Triway. I went to a lot of sporting events when I was younger and I knew who most of them were by their names. My high school councilors made my experience even better by having so much enthusiasm. Everything at Outdoor Ed. was just like I expected it to be. I went home and couldn’t stop talking to my parents about all the crazy things we did. I am now a camp councilor at Outdoor Ed and it is just as much fun. I will always remember how great of a time I had in sixth grade at camp and try to make it just as great for these sixth graders now.
