Career Assessment Tool

As a young boy living in Texas my parents always strove for a better future. Both were hard working, middle class people who envision a better quality of life for themselves and their children. Being the eldest of two I had to constantly set an example for my sister and help my parents in any possible way. Unlike my parents who were born in Colombia, I was born in Houston. My parents worked long shifts in order to provide enough for us. My father then began developing his own business by providing quality service as a home remodeled doing thing right to begin with. No one want’s to have the same problem done again this is what he provided a better service to his clients. Throughout my lifetime in school there was a sense of structure that had a time set in place. Whether it was to complete a project or even homework that had to be turn in at that particular time. I realize with a set of agenda and prefer to have a structured time line to complete my materials in time. By going through my mistakes and learning from them it help me define who I am. Which was someone who likes to be productive in life and set to a career path for my future to come. One example that I can recall was going on stage next to the professor receiving that college diploma, all smiles but still deep inside of me wanting more. The influence of my parents, support of my teachers, and the amount of dedication I put into my work ethic have made me the man I am today and owe it all to them.

My intended major is a degree in business, more specifically accounting since it’s everywhere in today’s society. Whether dealing with a multimillion dollar corporation or a local pizza shop, time is money, and money is paid through wages which accounting makes possible.
