The primary goal of a not-for-profit organization is not to make money. It is to perform their task that is required of them on a regular basis and to depend on donations in order to do so. It is based off volunteers assisting in any way they can in order for the organization to continue running. It is not have the financial resources that for profit organization has since it is not based off of profit. Sometimes it can be tough within a not-for-profit organization. They must try and make every dollar stretch as far as it can. In order to maintain a reputable name they must also be able to provide proof of all funds being properly utilized for the function which it provides to the community.
For profit organizations are completely different. They of course are all about making profit from selling products or providing services to the community. This type of company is more common than the not-for-profit organizations. The majority of companies are for profit organizations we probably visit at least one for profit business on a daily basis.
My case study will be on the not-for-profit organization Central Vermont Humane Society and the for profit organization Walmart. These organizations differ tremendously because they stand for different values and two completely separate agendas (Bertilsson, February 2014). While the Central Vermont Humane Society is based on helping save innocent animals and try to place them with loving families to live out the rest of their lives while just having enough funds to run a caring establishment. While Walmart is about making money and supplying the customer with quality products at the lowest possible price.
