The War against Colonialism speaks in detail about three different examples of colonialism that have been viewed throughout history. Colonialism can be described as the establishment, exploitation, maintenance, acquisition, and expansion of colony in one territory by a political power from another territory. It is a set of unequal relationships between the colonial power and the colony and often between the colonists and the indigenous population. The aspect of colonialism that is covered throughout the course of this paper is the British authority over Arabs and Jews in the state of Palestine as well as British law. Issues between the three parties started with the creation of Balfour Declaration, a declaration in which the British promised the Jews a home in Palestine. However this became an issue when Palestine’s Arab majority did not agree with the promise of a Jewish homeland due to the fact that the Arab’s felt that Palestine was their homeland and not owned/controlled by the British. Under the Balfour Declaration the British were told to police Palestine and keep peace between Jews and Palestinians. This however would fail when the British would try to appease to the Arabs by restricting Jewish immigration to Palestine thus in turn angering the Jews.

According to Setton, Mudd & Carroll, (2000) Jewish people knew there was no way they would be able to go to battle with British military forces and come out victorious, therefore the Jews instead resorted to urban terrorism as a way to fight against the British which included the creation of the underground terrorist organization known as the Irgun, whose goal was to strike at symbols of British rule. Once the underground terrorist organization Irgun was formed the Jews slowly but surely fought back against the British. As if Irgun was not enough of a problem for the British, soon after, a small group was split from Irgun known as the Stern Gang that was created by Avraham Stern.
