When the movie first started and I saw the George Orwell quote, “ In a time of deceit telling the truth is a revolutionary act”, it made me think of our current government and how dishonest they are with us. It then went on to explain the film’s purpose and I saw that it was talking about how Aaron Russo didn’t know whether or not it was a law to pay income taxes. When I started the movie, I didn’t have a clue what the content of the movie would be, but now I have a general idea. And then it went on to say that the law of income taxes was never actually ratified! James Fox stated that “ If you examined the 16th amendment carefully, you would find that a sufficient number of states never ratified that amendment.” After reading that it has me thinking, “Don’t actually tell me they got away with this hoax!” And then I heard that the Federal Reserve Act was another fraud! Woodrow Wilson, having signed the amendment, states how he as unwillingly and unwittingly ruined his country. Aaron interviewed several people in regards to whether they would pay income taxes if they didn’t have to, and all said no. He also asked people if they had ever read a law that said they have to pay income taxes, and those people also said no. Aaron interviewed former IRS agents and asked them if there is a law, in which they also said that there isn’t. Soon after it showed a movement against the IRS, because the IRS did not answer whether or not there is a law that says you have to pay income taxes, and people chanted, “No answers, No Taxes.” A woman also talked about how the government had over 2.3 trillion dollars’ worth of undocumentable adjustments. An undocumentable adjustment, according to the movie, means that the money is “missing”. Aaron attempted to interview staff at the IRS...
