FACULTY BIO

Celia Moore is an Assistant Professor of Organisational Behaviour. She received her Ph.D. from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, after earning a B.A. in Philosophy from McGill University and a Master's in Public Administration from Columbia University. For the spring of 2011, she was a visiting scholar at Harvard Business School, and for the 2011-2012 academic year she was a fellow at Harvard’s Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics.

Before returning to academia for her Ph.D., she spent eight years working in New York and Toronto as a consultant and researcher on human resource issues. For five of these years she was at Catalyst, a non-profit organization that works with business to advance women. Her current research focuses on how corruption and unethical behaviour is facilitated for individuals, groups, and organizations, and the unexpected reasons why corruption is so persistent.

COURSE SUMMARY

The course is designed to inform and stimulate thinking on issues of ethics and social responsibility as they are encountered in business. The material covered is intended to highlight the unexpected ways in which context can affect our behaviour and decisions, prepare students to recognize and manage complicated business decisions when different priorities conflict, and to help students think through their own standards of integrity and corporate responsibility and how they will apply them when called.
