Question: "You have a friend who is of Jewish heritage; however, she has no religious belief. She asks you why, if God is so good, He permitted the Holocaust to happen. What would you tell her?"

Answer: We all know that God could have prevented the Holocaust; as well as all of the other evil things that have taken place in the world including the fall of Adam and Eve. Ultimately, we will never know why He allows bad this to happen. There is a verse that comes to mind, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9).

There is nothing we can ever do to justify the Holocaust, however I am a firm believer that there is always something positive that happens from something bad. A positive thing that happened from the Holocaust was Israel now exists as a nation. The Holocaust was also a crucial reason the White Paper of 1939 was rescinded, which allowed the Jews to be free to immigrate to Palestine if they wish. In 1948 The Jews reinstated their national identity which helped to fulfill biblical prophecies that are found in Ezekiel 37. Since the Nazi’s were defeated, the land of Israel went back to the Jews which in my eyes is a perfect example of how God’s plan overrides Satan’s plan by bringing the good in spite of all the evil that occurred.
