Allied forces had already suffered great losses during the war in Europe and to continue sending american lives into war in the pacific front is something nobody wants to do. Japan has been bombed and burned to the ground but they refuse to surrender, they refuse to let up and continue to take the lives of allied troops, basic war strategy just wasn't cutting it so an upgrade in attack could have very possibly been the only way to make japan fall back and surrender the war. Use of an atomic bomb will rattle the bones of any human capable of understanding the aftermath that would follow. Typical bombings and fighting would not shake japan but a catastrophic explosion from the atomic bomb would bring leave them in awe and powerless, they would have choice but to surrender before the entire country would be a topic in history classes. the use of the atomic bomb would save countless allied lives and bring many soldiers back to their families in america, it is a weapon of mass destruction and it cannot be ignored and has to bring surrender.

Japan had already been exposed to enormous numbers of military deaths as well as civilian deaths. in 1945, Allied forces had secured the Japanese island of Iwo Lima and then during the battle for Okinawa 90,000 Japanese troops and 100,000 Japanese civilians died in the battle, in June 1945, Allied forces controlled islands less than 500 miles from Japan setting us up for an invasion on japan. During this time allied forces had already began bombing japan where in one raid 100,000 people were killed, japan was already close to defeat and were on its heels walking backwards, so why use an atomic bomb that would destroy the country and decimate the civilian population? General Dwight Eisenhower was quoted saying "I voiced ... my grave misgivings, first on the basis of my belief that Japan was already defeated and that dropping the bomb was completely unnecessary, and secondly because I thought that our country should avoid shocking...
