The second module focused on IT and Company Strategy. Before this module, I knew a bit about company strategy from the marketing class I am enrolled in, which served to help me as the module progressed. Focusing on IT and Company Strategy is a vital way for Central to obtain the upper-hand with its competitors. During a meeting, Catherine delegated task toward me and some of the other employees. The only difference was I had to create my PowerPoint alone. My partner had a personal issue that she had to attend to. I believe that before my supposed partner left she could have left me a few notes, especially since I am the intern and she is an employee. However, back to the way Central can hold a strong competitive advantage in the market.

The topic that I was assigned to create a PowerPoint on was The Market Process, which I was fairly confident about because I know a few things about marketing. In order for Central to profitably satisfy customer needs, the company first has to recognize its external and internal conditions, which consist of the customer, the market environment, and the firm’s abilities. I believe that once a firm begins to exhibit a flawless marketing process, that the anxiety of competitors will begin to lessen. I believe that being able to participate more during the Module helped me absorb the information and being able to create a PowerPoint helped me put what I already know and what I am learning into perspective. I obtained the knowledge of marketing through all my business classes and from reading the business section of the news.

Material that was new to me in this Module was learning how to use IT strategically to create value and learning about Porter's five competitive forces. In the video, that was linked in one of the Word documents, Porter stated that companies look at its competition too narrowly. I found that the way there were multiple documents and a video on Porter’s five competitive forces helped me better learn the material....
