The content of this edition has been revised in several respects. Chapter 5 has been modified to provide a more concise AD/AS model and a framework for the material covered in later chapters. The

development of the ADπ /ASπ model in Chapter 12 is now presented using diagrams comparable

to those used in the development of the AD/AS in Chapter 11. Empirical examples and illustrations

of economic performance have been updated in all chapters along with some additional discussions

of economic performance and policy.
