The Zionist thinkers and philosophers between the first and fourth Aliyot have been a major influence on the Yishuv’s development. Theodor Herzl and Echad Ha’am are two great examples for the roots of the Zionist movement. Due to current private media coverage on international television being anti-Israel, people are given false information and do not understand the truth behind the countries development and history. It is the Zionist movement between the years of 1880-1929 that brought the Jewish people together within one state that they can call their own.

The Jewish people have been facing anti-Semitism, abuse, rape, and unequal social standards from the very beginning of time. They were considered to be the rats and cockroaches of the world and that’s how they were treated. After many years of suffer, a man by the name of Theodor Herzl rose and took action against this repetitive suffering of Jews around the world. Herzl was born to a famous proto-Zionist by the name of Rabbi Yehuda Alkalai and migrated from Budapest, his country of birth, to the University of Vienne where he studied law but later on became a writer. In 1894 he published “The Ghetto” where he hoped to change the perspective of Jews and ease the tensions around the world. The same year, the Dreyfus Affair took place, which was what truthfully triggered his actions against anti-Semitism.

Theodor Herzl’s outlook and steps towards decreasing anti-Semitism throughout the world was through political Zionism. Herzl believed that the only way to fix this issue was by creating a Jewish state where they are guaranteed international acceptance and security within the country. This state must be created with consent of great powers and guaranteed within international law.
