The life of many Americans is based on the pay rate where a person cannot seem to make ends meet. Minimum wage can be defined as workers that can be underpaid and over worked. Today the federal minimum wage is $ 7.25 per hour since 2009. Although raising minimum wage would be a good gesture, there is information from premises and biases discussed in class that will help explain the reasoning why it is good to increase and the consequential side; personal experiences will also help dictate an outcome of this chosen topic.

Choosing to raise the minimum wage gives a lot of positive reasoning as to why it is important. Having high pay can provide a person’s life in ways as to living better. Every American wants to leave in a way where they do not have to base their profit living from paycheck to paycheck. Understanding the word struggle should be considered when a law is passed based on minimum wage being so low. For example, if the group that makes the law would just one day live the lifestyle of a person on minimum wage he or she would see first-hand why that is not a good choice and would instantly want to raise minimum wage rate. If minimum wage was raised a lot of senseless acts would be lowered statistically and the crime rate will decline. All in all, in choosing to raise minimum wage will argue itself as to why it is so important and something that needs to be considered and done soon.

According to Procon.org there are three premises that support the reasons why minimum wage should be increased. First premise, raising the minimum wage would increase economic activity and spur job growth. Second premise, increasing the minimum wage would reduce poverty. Third premise, a higher minimum wage would reduce welfare spending. (ProCon.org, 2016) These are perfect examples to support the increase of minimum wage.
