Budget Worries

When you look at budgeting, there are positives and negatives. On the positive sided, budgeting is a benefit in any situation that involves money. “Managerial Accounting: Decision Making for the Service and Manufacturing sectors” Schneider (2012) provides a variety of advantages that outweigh the costs and efforts required to achieve a good budget. In look back at what I read in “Budgeting As A Competitive Advantage” Jehle (1999) it states a budget ties all the pieces together to show a road map to measure management, personnel and the organization as a whole to define the strategic plan in meeting a goal. When a budget is done it represents the personnel’s numbers and their benchmarks against performance of those people which can be measured. But there is a negative side to everything.

In “ The Economics of Wild Goose Chases” Prendergast (2015) it states that identifying the different factors that constrain efficiency in a business has been a primary concern in to success. When I look at my current career in the military, I see many positives and a lot of negatives. Negative focused on financial problems. These problems deal with budgets. A few years ago, the government was, as we know in a financial crisis. All levels of business were affect which included the military but excluded major portions of the government like congress. Anyway, this required the government to shut down and break open the books to conduct a major budget audit. In regards to the military, there were cuts in almost all section. Material, gear, ammunition, fuel, training and etc. You name it, it was review and downsized. This included personnel. The word that the military used was “squestion” which meant sending home those some sailors that had previous problems along with those that had not problems.
