Assuming, you are willing to allow him to have a Facebook account, describe what types of guidelines you would discuss with him to ensure his privacy and security are protected. Be sure to justify your decisions by describing possible issues if your guidelines are not followed.

With the ever-changing world of technology, constant vigilance is required to maintain a secure computing environment for home or work use. To protect one’s personal information, there are many steps that must be taken when purchasing and configuring a new computer. While boring and time consuming, these procedures will strengthen the security of your personal information, making an attack on you much less likely. To ensure utmost safety, one must consider operating system settings, additional required software and configuration, and browser settings and internet habits.

The majority of personal computers purchased from the store will have a pre-installed operating system on them. Upon receiving my new computer, I discovered Windows 8.1 64-bit operating system installed on it. After unboxing the computer and installing in my office, I ensured that it is not connected to any network (wireless or wired) and power it on. While most computers also come with pre-installed windows anti-virus, it is important to verify this before connecting to the network for the first time. Each second a user is on the network unprotected could result in an intrusion, and while there is no personal information on the PC yet, an intrusion could install malicious software that could be harmful later.
