A. Company Q clearly lacks an understanding of social responsibility. Company Q seems to be focused on protecting themselves from further loss rather than creating strategies that would benefit them and the community. Based on their actions company Q is contributing to environmental racism and the continued institutionalized oppression that exists in low socioeconomic areas and perpetuating ethnic marginalization.

Small locally owned businesses are subject to bias based on past bad experiences, culture, or demographics. While clearly lacking responsibility, they may be unaware of the detriment or benefits to themselves and the community when acting responsibility. Local and Federal government must do their part by educating store owners regarding tax benefits and other programs that promote an understanding of community impact.

1. Company Q’s actions have essentially created a “food desert”

2. Company Q seems to want to rectify this deficit they have created by offering healthy foods. However, I wonder if it is too little too late?

3. Company Q’s donation policy in lacks social responsibility. The government is continually making it easier and safer for companies to donate food without fear of liability. The lack of trust they have in their employees is a direct reflection on management and hiring practices.
