Graduation Report

Design is a constantly developing concept, incessantly emerging with innovative styles, toning with today’s world and the community’s demands. Through creativity and modern advanced technology, the concept of design is transformed into a more simplified term, influencing the use of sleek, clean and compact forms, offering an uncluttered appearance; currently referred to as the contemporary style. Essentially concerned about space, the contemporary style tends to focus greatly on the amount of space provided and as to how it should be used. ‘Fundamentally, simplicity, slight sophistication, texture and clean lines help define contemporary style decorating.’(1) Interiors display space rather than things by focusing on color, space, and shape, creating a fresh and sleek appearance. The following project is to be formed and presented through the contemporary style, balancing the world’s current lifestyle. Among several other proposed ideas for the final year project, the Yacht Club is selected as the most suitable alternative to be designed and presented. The following data encloses a detailed report clarifying the project’s main concept and components.

The project’s concept primarily focuses on yachting and water related sports, due to being an extensively supported form of entertainment on an island such as Bahrain, basically a yacht club. Similar clubs are widely located across Bahrain’s many beaches, increasing the amount of water facilities and promoting the yachting business. A yacht club is a sports club specifically related to sailing and yachting. ‘Yacht Clubs are mostly located by the sea, although there are some that have been established at a lake or riverside locations. Yacht or sailing clubs have either a marina or a delimited section of the beach or shoreline with buoys marking the areas off-limits for swimmers, as well as safe offshore anchorages.
