Founded in the United States, the Avis Budget Group is a successful worldwide provider of car rental services through its well-known Avis and Budget brands (Avis Corporate Facts, 2014). Avis Budget South Africa [Avis] was established in Bloemfontein, South Africa in 1967 as part of the Barloworld Group. It has earned approximately 37% of the South African car rental market (Avis South Africa, 2012). Avis prides itself on very high customer loyalty. Frequently returning customers range from business travelers to families on vacation. Decades of commitment to high quality service and innovation firmly placed Avis as the preferred car rental company in South Africa’s booming economy.
An advanced infrastructure, favorable warm climate, and breathtaking geographic scenery make South Africa an attractive market for international investors (Brand South Africa, 2014).
