Coffee, the delicious hot drink, is becoming more research on their behalf. Although it has long been considered harmful to health, recent studies emphasize the nutrients that active constituents and potential benefits to the body.

Coffee is produced from the seeds and fruits of coffee. This shrub is native to Asia and Africa, but today is grown in countries around the world for its commercial importance. One of its main (and most famous) active ingredients is caffeine, an alkaloid that has a stimulating effect on the central nervous system.

This compound, bitter taste, is responsible for the most common effects of coffee: chase the dream and restore attention and alertness. To a lesser extent, caffeine found in other teas as tea and mate.

Recent research suggests that coffee could be even more useful than previously thought. Besides having nutrients such as calcium, may be associated with a decreased risk of developing type 2 diabetes, a disease that according to World Health Organization affects about 200 million people. This study, published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, found that drinking coffee during lunch decreased by three times the risk of contracting this disease.

A study published in the journal Circulation found that taking two or three cups of coffee daily reduces the risk of heart attacks in women. This research was extensive and closely followed the dietary guidelines and health of thousands of American women over 25 years.
