Abstract:

Many factors influence an individual’s personality development. From the very first moment, he or she enters the world; he or she is surrounded by strangers, home atmospheres, and the treatment of others. One begins to recognize his or her strengths and weaknesses by familiarizing oneself with one’s particular surroundings. Additional factors that influence ones personal development can be determined by two elements, traits, and characteristics. Traits provide for individual differences in conduct regularity of behavior over time and steadiness of behavior across circumstances.

An individual’s personality development can be influenced by many factors. Many of those factors can be either biological or environmental. Biological factors are the traits and characteristics people are born with. The environment an individual grows up helps to shape his or her personality. Social interactions can also influence personality.

Mr. Rodriguez was in the right place at the right time because of what happened to him and how he became successful. His can contribute his success to the advice given him from his roommate’s girlfriend. She sparked his interest in selling diamonds; she suggested that he should work in the diamond business. Mr. Rodriguez decided to work for a local jeweler. He had a goal in mind and continued to strive toward that goal. He continued his education and received his Diamonds and Diamonds Grading certification.

In his current job Mr. Rodriguez realized that by working with the local jeweler, he would not achieve his goal. He began to explore other business options, and learned everything he needed to know about diamonds. Mr. Rodriquez grew tired of working for other jewelers and became discouraged. “He told himself that he would never become anything if he continued to work in his present job” (Business Library, 2008).
