Future Logistics Solutions Limited (FLSL), a specialized subsidiary; offers strategic, focused and consolidated approach to meet the Future Group’s large supply chain requirements as well as those of select supply and business partners.
The Future Logistics team currently oversees the operations of an existing fleet of over 600 dedicated trucks, contracted from established regional and national transport carriers, most of which are now equipped with GPS (Global Positioning System) sets. In addition, it provides integrated end-to-end SCM(Supply Chain Management), warehousing and distribution, multi-modal transportation and container freight station. The total consolidated warehouse space that the company intends to have operational by 2010-11 is nearly 7.50 Million square feet.

In this current economic slowdown, Pantaloon India is the only retail format which is still showing profit on balance sheets and growing annually at the rate of 30%, so it is highly critical that the inventory from the warehouse reaches the stores as soon as possible. Tarapur Warehouse being only the single Pantaloon warehouse all over India, its productivity becomes extremely crucial for the entire Pantaloon chain.
The Issue
But despite the need the warehouse is facing problems in increasing their outbound capacity to different stores all over India resulting in an alarming loss of sales of about 20%. Their outbound capacity currently stands at about 40,000 pieces per day which they want to increase by at least 50% to a level of 60,000 pieces per day, so the current demands can be met. Assuming that 75% pieces sell at conservative price of 500 per piece; Then also the Loss in sales value: Rs 7.5 Million per day.
