I think social networks, like Facebook and Twitter, are a great way of communicating with acquaintances, friends, and family. On Facebook, you can message and chat friends. You can host events and send invitations. You can also tell people some facts about yourself. Facebook is a great way to learn about other people. But Facebook has their downsides, too. Lately, people have been posting pictures that are like “Like this if you want to go to Heaven. Keep scrolling if you want to go to Hell”. If you believe in Heaven, it’s kind of difficult to not like the picture and just keep scrolling, and when people like it, their friends see it on their news feed and then they like it and so on. It clogs and spams your news feed. On the other side, there’s twitter. Twitter is a great way to stay updated on people’s everyday life. Twitter is one of those social networks that are used more than once almost every day. Unlike Facebook’s friend request though, Twitter allows you to follow people and other people follow you without a request or permission. This leads to strangers following you. These strangers could be stalkers, pedophiles, etc. This could lead danger and trouble towards you. Also, there’s cyber bullying to worry about. On Facebook, people post malicious statuses about a person, but usually don’t include the victim’s name. It goes the same with Twitter, too. I honestly think people are just too scared to say what they think to a person directly, so they type it instead. There’s also drama that come up. People argue back and forth, and it clogs the news feed. Overall, I think social networking is a great way of communicating with friends and family. Just make sure you don’t cyber bully because you can get in a lot of trouble.
