 It has been over 200 years since the industrial revolution in Great Britain. The 1842 English Parliamentary reports about miners which was the assigned reading, describes the workplace conditions of the mid 1800’s for workers.  I will reflect specifically on the environmental workplace conditions involving physical, mental, and sexual abuse experienced primarily by the women and girls in the coal mines to heighten the awareness of this same type of abuse which potentially could be happening today.

First, the physical abuse occurred  from the moment arrived on the worksite which required entry into a small two foot entrances. often required to crawl around in the mines on hands or knees. The males using tools or their hands to hit or beat the woman and girls. One lady speaks of the long hours she works and her husband beating her for not being ready. Often

Secondly, the sexual abuse occurred with women and girls being forced by older men and boys to have sex while in the mines working. The indecent ripped clothing on the young females from chains rubbing a hole which exposed the private parts of females. The males...
