I don’t believe in the death penalty. I think that it is way too easy for the killer or rapist to get away with a crime. I think that if you commit a crime that has the possibility of you receiving the death penalty then you should serve life in prison instead because it is so much more worse. When they get to serve life they get to suffer just like the victim’s family has to for the rest of their life if they lose their child without even getting to say goodbye properly. I also think it applies to someone who gets rapped because then that victim has to suffer life changing situations and it will be very hard for her/him to trust anyone for the rest of their lives.

The movie did not change my point of view and I did not sympathize with the murderer or rapist. I just thought he should have to suffer in prison rather than getting the easy way out and getting the death penalty. I do not think the same as the nun and it is very hard for me to forgive. Death penalty is something I do not think should happen because they should have to pay for what they did instead of getting off easy. The characteristics of poverty that are listed at the beginning of this chapter are evident in these women’s stories because their story explains how they are closer to death every day they wake up because they cannot afford the water bill to shower or their shower doesn’t even work. Since they cannot afford to shower they can grow mold in their hair just like one of the stories in the book. Not only can they not afford to clean themselves but the many children they have who have to go to school dirty and most likely in the same clothes and probably get ridiculed for it. It is clear that they have a barrier of full development because they cannot afford to pay debts that they are in for GED classes so because of those debts they cannot afford to further their education.
