Forensic chemists analyze evidence that is in crime scenes and they finalize their results based on the tests they run on that piece or pieces of evidence they have. The forensic chemist's job is to identify and characterize the evidence as a big part of solving a crime. A forensic chemist does not do the investigative work. All they do is handle the evidence that is collected from a crime scene. The evidence they work with includes hair samples, paint chips, glass fragments, or bloodstains. To be able to do this requires the knowledge of chemistry, biology, materials science, and genetics.

Chemical enhancement for the detection of bloodstains

The most common evidence that is found in crime scenes is bloodstains. This is crucial information for all forensic cases. Blood can be discovered by chemical and biological tests. Identifying and the help with chemicals help analyze the essences of the blood and its interactions and surroundings. Blood cannot be distinguishable at crime scenes for many reasons like the weather, time and how many times the culprit tried to clean up the blood. Forensic chemical enhancements are used to detect blood to discover the location of latent stains (A stain in a surface to which tape has been applied). This is crucial information to determine the validation of blood in the laboratory. This is helped out by the DNA analysis.

Detection tests and chemical improvements rely on the whereabouts of hemoglobin (A red protein responsible for transporting oxygen in the blood of vertebrates) in blood and will give positive results for human blood and even animal blood. Most of the chemical tests that are performed at the crime scenes are possible tests but the tests that are performed in the lab for more analysis are confirmed tests.

4.1. Confirmatory tests for laboratory

Confirmatory tests are used to identify the biological sample after it has been screened with a presumptive test., which is then typed for subsequent analysis. A...
