(Optional)The most challenging obstacle that I have had to overcome was being in an abusive relationship. I was 19 years old and thought that this guy truly loved me. Wow was I so wrong. We met through mutual friend of ours and hit it off. He was charming, sweet, handsome, everything you could possibly want in a significant other. He wined and dined me. He opened car doors for me, the whole nine. About 3 months into our relationship we had an argument over something pretty petty. He pushed me against the door and told me to never talk to him that way. I was totally thrown for a loop. Up until then he had never even raised his voice at me. I was in complete shock. From that moment on everything changed. We were having more and more arguments over the same silly stuff money, friends, what restaurant to go too. It was on our 6 month anniversary that I got the rude awakening. He had been cheating. I just didn’t know what to do or how to feel. Here this guy is the “love of my life” and he cheats on me???? I was so confused. I confronted him and of course he denied it. I decided to take matters into my own hands, and I followed him one night out to a bar. I sat in my car and watched as he met this girl at the front door arm around her and all. Mind you, he had told me he had to go to work! So I waited until they came out of the bar and then I confronted him and her. He was in complete and utter shock that he had been caught and the girl had no idea about me! Needless to say the girl left and he and I went to our house. That night will forever be implanted into my soul. He immediately started yelling and cursing at me, like I had done something wrong.
