Kudler Fine Foods Network Overview

After reviewing Kudler Fine Food network, the conclusion has been made that a massive network overhaul has to be performed to ensure the Kudler’s network is operating at the highest performance possible and to ensure that the company can be competitive from a technological stand point. The current equipment and software that Kudler Fine Foods is using on their network are out of date and antiquated. Ensuring that Kudler is able to keep pace with the network technological advances be made is very important but it is also important to make sure that the proper systems are installed so that there is no wasted money. By building Kudler’s network for the future additional cost can be saved. If the proper equipment and software are installed for future growth this saves Kudler money in because they will not have to spend money on upgrades or expansion. Kudler currently has many problems with their network. The following are Kudler Fine Food current network issues:

• La Jolla and Delmar NT servers are out of date – over a decade old.

• Slow connection speeds due to the use of 56K modems

• Antiquated software; All sites are operating on Windows 98

• The Novell Servers at the Delmar, La Jolla, and Encinitas sites out of date

• No redundant power source at any sites – new Standalone UPS are also needed

• XLS servers are operating on Office 97 at the La Jolla and Delmar sites – over 15 years old

The initial problem that was notices was that the La Jolla, Delmar, and Encinitas sites are all currently using 56k modems. This technology is very old and it does not allow the sites to communicate quickly and effectively with one another. With upgrading the modems it will allow Kudler to track real time updates on profits made and also provide Kudler with real time inventory updates.
