From: Corporate IT Systems Manager To: Chief Information Officer Date: 25/08/2013 Subject: Re-evaluation of Objectives and Strategy for Enterprise Resource Planning Information Technology System Sir, As you might be aware, our organisation has just been formed, through a merger of two organisations, and therefore is relatively new. Our IT systems are yet to be adapted to reflect this change. Prior to the merger, the two organisations had different IT systems to support operations which were specific to the needs each of the merged organisations. These legacy systems were modelled based on the then business processes which were characteristic of the nature of a particular institutions. Although some of the common business functions, procedures and processes have been maintained (such as human resources and accounting practices), others have been either reengineered. These challenges have been compounded by the increased mandate of the current organisation because current legacy systems operate as islands thereby making it difficult to track information flow within and outside the organisation. This situation is even worse now because much as core administrative and support functions were automated, specialised operational modules are not integrated. This means that the overall organisational information technology systems are a disintegrated...
