The manufacturing and service industry can help to reduce the environmental burden by: 1. Designing products to reduce their adverse environmental impact in the whole life cycle, including manufacturing, use and disposal, of products. 2. Reducing resource consumption, waste and pollution in manufacturing operations. 3. Taking a proactive approach regarding environmental legislation that affects our environment. 4. Encouraging suppliers, subcontractors, retailers and recyclers to adopt environmentally friendly materials, products and services 5. Setting targets and objectives, within the scope of the environmental management system, to achieve continual improvement and a sustainable development.
