Abstract

This paper discusses the four basic functions of management, controlling, leading, organizing, and planning. It also discusses my personal invention and how I would manufacture the product. With the given scenario there are three possible choices to manufacture my invention.

Functions Of Management

Management is broken down into four basic functions. Controlling, leading, organizing and planning are the four basic functions. Planning is setting goals for the future and making a plan to achieve the goals. Planning is for the future, which could be for the next day or the next year. Planning is an action that must be thought through to provide the most beneficial success. Although planning is for the future, the person responsible for planning must take a look in the past to examine their mistakes and be able to provide new standards for a better outcome. Different types of planning have different purposes in business. Strategic planning, Tactical planning, operational planning, and contingency planning are all different types of goal setting and all have different purposes to propose new strategies (Editorial Board, 2011).

The second function is organizing. The organizing stage determines all the needs of a business. This could be determining the staffing needs, financial, designing work systems and processes including policies and procedures (Editorial Board, 2011). Organizing broken down basically means arranging all the resources needed to run that business. Without organizing things could be misplaced and things are unknown when it comes to certain areas of a functioning business.

The third function is leading. Leading is positively leading a group of employees to perform at their highest level of ability. A leader is not one to control or boss around their co-workers, they are their to motivate and influence them to meet their personal goals within the...
