H.P. uses many strategies to attract customer and achieving competitive advantage. But the strategy that is evident in H.P. is R&D and Technology Fits. H.P. trying to research and development their products like data storage that works faster and cheaper by managing workloads across several machines and printers that can scan and search the contents of documents. Advantage for this strategy is cost-saving in technology by development and new product by research new technology and develops into old product. Also H.P. acknowledge that smart phone become more attraction and important so maybe H.P. try to attract new market and new customer by research and development new product of tablets and smart phones while still research and development their old product of PCs and laptops also.

For Wal-Mart’s situation, I will use example of Wal-Mart U.S. including the sporting goods category. In Newtown Conn. Residence was interest in shooting. So they are interesting in limited guns and ammunition. So Wal-Mart use needs of customer to become chance and competitive advantage of company. Wal-Mart is continuing to produce limited guns and three-box limit on ammunition. For this situation, I think Wal-Mart use Sales and Marketing Fits strategy. They try to sales single force for related products. Also advertising ammunition related to limited gun together. This opportunity can make Wal-Mart become stronger and achieving competitive advantage.
