1. What were some of the big labor battles in 1919?

The walkout of 100,000 working people in Seattle, 250,000 worker strike in Pennsylvania.

2. How were the Republican tax cuts of the 1920s similar to the recent Bush and Republican tax cuts?

The tax cuts favored the higher class. The taxes of the higher class wer lowered by fifty percent while the lower class was only lower by one percent.

3. A socialist critic said capitalism is about corporate profits not human needs. Do you agree or disagree? Explain your answer.

I agree since capitalism is all about making money. For example, the Comprehensive Health Insurance Plan instituted by Nixon acted on the notion of charging the most for the least healthcare.

4. What were the activities of the Communist Party in the 1930s?

It rallied unemployed citizen to fight for jobs.

5.Give 3 examples of the types of mass protest that occurred during the Great Depression.

500 farmers marched in Arkansas in the business section in town.

500 unemployed men stormed the Fruit Growers Express Company.

500 school children in Chicago marched to the Board of Education offices to demand food.

6. What reforms did President Roosevelt create?

The NRA was enacted to help stabilize the government. The AAA helped to organize agriculture.

7. How are the Roosevelt reforms similar to President Obama's reforms?

Obama and Roosevelt were both faced with an economy that was struggling and both had to impart some huge plans and reforms to try and turn the country around.

8. What were the sit-down strikes?

People go to work and just sit down and not do anything. It was a passive type of protest. With thousands of workings stopping what they were doing, companies had to fold to the employees and give them what they want.
