From Sarah’s lifestyle we are given a clear indication that her health is very unsatisfactory. There are many factors which contribute to this and these will be interpreted and analysed below.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) was assembled on 7 April 1948 and its main objective was to globally attain the highest possible level of health. The WHO defined health as;

“A state of physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity”

This takes into most factors which contribute to living a positive life and if any of these are in disrepute, then the individual will experience consequences which parallel how bad the problem is.

In 2000, the WHO has produced a paper called, “The United Nations Millennium declaration” and this paper commits world leaders to combat poverty, hunger, disease, illiteracy, environmental degradation and discrimination against women. These are factors which contribute to living a healthy lifestyle.

Nutrition is a vital part of our health. It is an essential for survival, although with Sarah the problem is she is consuming inappropriate proportions of the different food types. Sarah has a very limited diet. She eats mainly fatty foods and has quite a lot of snacks and coffee between her meals. The recommended daily amount of calories per day for a woman is 1940, whereas Sarah takes 2800. This contributes to why Sarah is overweight and also why she often feels lethargic and struggles from muscle pains after her jogs.

Biologically it is important and reccomended that a human takes in the essential Macronutrients (lipids, carbohydrates and protein) as they give us energy.

Micronutrients (sodium, calcium and iron) are also very important and these essential nutrients are required within different foods and drinks. This will raise the chances of a person living a long and healthy life with less chance of disease or illness. Many
