Introduction

"On the seventy-fifth anniversary, as a reminder to the rebels that even the strongest among them cannot overcome the power of the Capitol, the male and female tributes will be reaped from their existing pool of victors.” Even though Katniss thought that she had won the hunger games and was safe, the Capitol felt that she was a threat to Panem because of the berries act where she rebelled against the Capitol. Now she had to go back and do it all over again. Suzanne Collin’s Catching Fire, the second book in the Hunger Games series, was released in 2009. It instantly became a bestselling book with a remarkable tale of adventure, political suspense, and romance.

Summary

Katniss and Peeta arrive from winning the 74th Games together. The Hunger Games is an event in which the Capitol makes one girl and one boy come from each of the districts to fight each other to death. Before they go on their victory tour, President Snow warns Katniss that he doesn’t want any more rebellion acts otherwise an uprising might occur. In one of the interviews Peeta proposes to Katniss and asks him to marry her, which Katniss accepts. When they arrive from the Victory Tour, she figures out that an uprising has occurred in District Eight. She goes and talks to Gale about running away. Gale said he wanted to rebel and not run away and not leave. She searches for Peeta and asks him if he wanted to run away. He says yes to Katniss but is interrupted by the scene in town. Gale is being whipped because he hunts for game in the woods and Katniss runs to save and get whipped while protecting him. They both go to Katniss’s mom to get healed and Gale is barely alive. After several months they heard that for the 75th Hunger Games, all the previous winners from the past years would play the Hunger Games again.
