Charles F. Brush powered cities, and lit streets with arc lights. He held patents on both arc lights, and generators. Between 1880 and 1885, sales from his arc lights totaled over $1 million. He even ran two successful businesses. And is an excellent example of what someone with a passion can do with opportunity and perseverance. At DeVry, I’m studying computer and electrical engineering. And though there are a few classes I’d like to change, it most closely relates to what I want to do with my life after graduation. There are a number of leaders in my field, including Michael Faraday, Nikola Tesla, even Thomas Edison. I could have chosen any of these, but their names are pretty well known, along with their accomplishments. However, I like a challenge, and I enjoy walking the road less traveled, so to speak. I chose Brush because he isn’t as well-known as these others. I expect to graduate around mid to late 2016, depending on my work load, of course. After which, I’ll be able to start the ball rolling on my own projects.

Which are: Generators, and alternators, electric motors, essentially dealing with electromagnetic induction (the process that produces energy in generators), even magnets and electromagnets. I have much of them already worked out, but of course, there’s still details that need tending to, which I don’t have the knowledge yet to do. I have a number of things I’m working on, but of course, I can’t give away my secrets. One of my goals, however, is to produce energy for much less than it costs now, which lowers operating costs, and what has to be charged. This would lower families’ bills, reduce greenhouse emissions from plants that burn oils, gas, and coal, hopefully even provide power to places that live without, like the less than financially stable countries. I have big ideas, I just need a chance at making them happen.

So, Brush, he was a scientist, inventor, and quite the successful entrepreneur. According to Harry Eisenman, and those...
