Honda Battle of the Bands 2013
Back in January I attended the Honda Battle of the Bands 2013 in Atlanta, GA. It was an extremely great experience for me. The experience was a bit different than the kind of band performance that I normally see here at Clemson; it was amazing. There were many, many Historically Black College Universities there; familiarly with Bethune Cookman, Winston-Salem State University, North Carolina A & T and Johnson C Smith. Much of the music performed was hip-hop music. Bethune Cookman band performed a couple of songs with Share my love by R. Kelly being my favorite of their performance. The sound was balanced, the music was classy and slow. I could clearly go along with the band while singing which means that it was very pure. North Carolina had a great performance; they put on a show. I enjoyed the performance of Treat her like a lady; it was loud and clear. Most of the performances were done very well; they were uplifting and positive. Winston-Salem State did a horrible job, although they did have a great drum major entrance. Their announcer was busy trying to speak the performance to the audience instead of allowing the audience to hear the band perform. Brandy was the guest performer. Her voice is amazing; she did such a wonder job. Her vocals were clear and very complete. She was definitely my favorite. I just wish that there were live guitar players instead of so many drummers.
