I think that I would have to agree with the statement from our writing assignment. We always think that Greece was some great place where everyone wanted to live and a lot of the things that we have here in America are based upon things that came from Greece. Such as writing, our language, and many other things. The thing is we tend to over look all of the bad things that their society was based upon which only the rich would strive, slaves, and women had no rights at all. I think that we did get some good things from Greece but I wouldn’t say that everything they did was great and I think that everyone should learn from Greece their mistakes and their great accomplishments.

First of all Greece based most of there government policies on the rich and those who had succeeded in life. Everything had to deal with the strongest man, the man who made the most money, the smartest man, and the upper class. The younger class such has the poor really didn’t have a choice in anything. They lower class was never rulers and they could never make decisions for their society. I think that this is very wrong I think that everyone in a society should be allowed to decide what happens. I think that everyone has an opinion, which is very important, and everyone should be allowed to contribute to society so that it will benefit everyone.

The next problem that they had with their society was slavery. Most of their society and the workforce were based upon slave labor. This is one of the worst things that a society could do. No one should be forced to do work for someone else while not being compensated. I don’t care what color your skin is, where you are from, what you believe in, or who you are. I doesn’t matter no one should have to go through slavery and be forced to do things they do not want to do because they are afraid that they will be tortured or killed or their family would be hurt.
