Cloning can be used in many ways, some good and beneficial and others, like we have seen in Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein, harmful and disastrous. Cloning has been a topic of debate for years but I feel with my research on the matter that it should be allowed for many reasons. Cloning could lead to a better world by solving such problems as world hunger, sickness and diseases and organ donation shortages.

Imagine a world where if you needed a new heart, liver or any other organ it could be grown by using your exact DNA. An exact replica of your original healthy organ will give you a second chance at life and more time with your loved ones. With typical organ transplants you would have to wait for a suitable organ donor to die or to make a living donation, but cloning would take away the anxiety of not knowing if a possible match will be made before your time is up. Also, organs have to be harvested and transplanted quickly after the death of the donor for optimum quality, whereas cloned organs would be done in a lab with the patient ready to receive the transplant at the availability of the doctors. The cloned organ will also contain 100% of the recipients DNA so there is less chance for rejection as with traditional organ donation.

Sickness and disease could be a thing of the past with cloning technology because of embryonic stem cells. Stem cells can grow into any cell; they can be cultured into nerve cells, skin cells and even hair follicles for the bald. The obvious use for this cloning would be treating deadly diseases such as diabetes and Parkinson’s. With these diseases a specific type of cell has died off in the body and by replacing these cells doctor could restore the health of the patient. This technology could prolong the life expectancy of human beings and make quality of life much better for the sick.

Another benefit of cloning is the advancements of cloning plants and crops such as fruits and vegetables. Cloning of plant would help to make crops...
