Unit 10 - Windows 7 Features

The release of Windows 7 showed the operating system as a whole revamped. The new system proved to be easier to use, more user friendly, etc. This operating system is packed with lots of new features as well as several old features updated to make the experience as a whole while using Windows 7 a great one. Some of the features include BitLocker to go, User Account Controls, Windows Defender, Windows Search, and Windows Troubleshooting.

BitLocker To Go a new feature to Windows 7, allows USB sticks and other portable hard drives to be encrypted by simply right-clicking and adding a password. You can also print out a recovery key in case you forget the password you created. This is an awesome feature added to the OS because USB drives are being used now to help users with being able to access data and files on the go and since these portable devices are small and easily lost there is a major chance for a security scare. This feature helps to avoid that in case of the USB stick being lost or stolen, there will be no need to worry about the information being used/improperly accessed. This encryption setting is really important in any type of work setting where the files are being moved from one place to the other. I think this will be a good tool for me when working at the office as well as at home. This will allow me to ensure that the data files I am moving are secure at all times and if I lose any of the information it will be protected from thieves.

User Account Controls are an important issue when running a business or trying to monitor usage as a parent. And with the updated User Account controls Windows 7 makes that easier.
