The Young Society and Their Heavy Usage of Technology

Abstract

This paper presents opinions and reports on results from research conducted on the youth of today’s society and how they are isolating themselves through the heavy usage of technology. Whether it is through cell phones, video games, or time spent on the computer, it can have a costly affect on their personal lives. This paper compares their public school performance, social skills and interpersonal relationships to those who do not place a substantial reliance on the developments of social media, internet, and portable technology. It aims to express how parents play a key role regarding this topic, and whether or not it is a good thing that parents are supporting their children in the acquisition of this technology. There are various scenarios that illustrate a different aspect of a certain relationship and how technology has affected an individual. This paper examines why using technology as a form of communication can provoke isolation and have a deteriorating effect on interpersonal relationships and friendships for kids at an early age as well as health risks.

Kids’ Heavy Technology Usage and Life Quality

To turn down a date in the least awkward way, some may resort to a quick text expressing, “I’m so sorry, my family is in town, and I just can’t tonight” to avoid the entire confrontation. Now, why we even agreed in the first place is unknown, it is just a sigh of relief to know we have a quick escape route readily available when we do need it. To quickly arrange and gather a handful of invitees to a party is less of a hassle now – just hop on to Facebook, and “create an event”.
