Background

For the purpose of this assignment, a restaurant by the name of Simply Asia, was selected. The restaurant is situated in a relatively upmarket suburb called Southdowns in Centurion. The restaurant falls under a division of a company called Knowledge Vault CC and officially opened for trade mid February 2013. The restaurant is acting as a pilot project as the company wishes to open many more in the area, if the Southdown’s branch proves successful. Although it has only been in trade for just over a year, it has been under immense duress as the general foundation is crumbling. A major factor attributable to the leaks in the system are primarily due to an incredibly high staff turnover. High staff turnover is the main issue this report will focus on. The hospitality industry experiences amongst the highest staff turn over rates. This is primarily because one does not need to be educated to get a job, and the tasks needed to perform are not complex in any way.

The mission and vision that the company strives to meet is to ensure that authentic thai food is made available to everyone at affordable rates.

Current Situation

In order to depict a wholistic view of the restaurant before the changes were implemented, the 7s model is used. The 7s model basically states seven factors in an organisation that need to be aligned and constantly reinforced in order for an organization to be successful.

Strategy

The strategy that Knowledge Vault adheres is to bacome a dominant player in the Thai food market in Centurion and Midrand. Thai food has many health benefits, and in the health conscious environment we live in aloows the modern day family to strive to dine in healthy but tasty restaurants. Knowledge Vault hopes to open two more stores in the Midrand and Centurion regions, thereby establishing themselves as a known brand in a untapped market.
