RABIES CONTROL

Article 1. Section 31.00 of REVISED REVENUE CODE of Tuy, Batangas 2002

Section 31.01- PROVIDED ACT – Every dog 3 months old and over should be submitted by the owner for vaccination against rabies every year or as indicated on the label literature of the vaccine but in no case to exceed 24 months, provided that three month old dogs shall be vaccinated within 30 days upon reaching that age. The cost of vaccination shall be borne by the owner of the dog at a cost agreed upon by the Sangguniang Bayan.

Section 31.02- DEFINITION OF TERMS – FOR THE PURPOSE OF THIS article, the following definitions shall prevail:

A. Dog – shall apply to specific domestic animal (canis familiaris); male or female

B. Vaccination Against Rabies – the inoculation of a dog with rabies vaccine licensed for the species by the Bureau of Animal Industry, BAI. Such vaccination must be performed by a trained individual from the BAI.

C. Owner – shall mean any person keeping, harboring or having charge or control of permitting any dog habitually be o remain on or be lodged, fed within such person’s house, yard or premises.

D. Rabies Control Authority – duly organized person or persons responsible for enforcement of the ordinance (policemen, BAI, DOH personnel, trained vaccinator, members of the Barangay council, etc. )

E. Has Been Bitten – means has been seized with the teeth so that the skin of the person has been wounded or pierced including scratches.

Section 31.03 – ORGANIZATION AND FUNCTION – a Municipal Rabies control Coordinating Committee shall be formed and shall process the main authority of implementing this rabies control ordinance and other rabies control related activities.

Section 31.04 – DUTIES OF VETERINARIAN – when vaccinating a dog, it shall be the duty of Veterinarian, or in his absence, any official of the Municipal Agriculture Office, duly appointed by the Mayor, to complete a...
