Impact of Information Technology on Human Resources

ABSTRACT

In this paper we will discuss about the impact of information technology on human resources management, the way HR tackles the workplace diversity in order to meet technology changes and provides various solutions to overcome those challenges for the smooth functioning of the organization.

The first half of paper concentrates on relation between Technology and Human Resource Management. Human resource management (HRM, or simply HR) is the management of an organization's workforce, or human resources. It is responsible for the attraction, selection, training, assessment, and rewarding of employees, while also overseeing organizational leadership and culture, and ensuring compliance with employment and labor laws. The HRM function in organizations has gained increasing strategic emphasis, and the importance of its alignment with business strategies is well-acknowledged. In fact, effective HRM is vital in order to be able to meet the market demands with well-qualified employees at all times. Technology and HRM have a broad range of influences upon each other, and HR professionals should be able to adopt technologies that allow the reengineering of the HR function, be prepared to support organizational and work-design changes caused by technology, and should be able to support an ideal managerial climate for innovative and knowledge-based organizations.
