INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES OF STUDY
For the services management course, we are to choose a company for our study to understand the roles of technology that the company uses for its business operations and the services that it renders to its customers. For this study, the company that I have chosen to study on the roles of technology is Golden Screen Cinemas Sdn Bhd.
BACKGROUND OF THE COMPANY
Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) is the largest chain of cinemas in Malaysia. This company was founded in 1981 as Golden Communications Circuit, while the Cathay is one of the oldest cinemas in Malaysia until 1998. During the same time the website has been launch in 1981. GSC was born in 1998 as a result of a successful merger of Golden Communications (GC) Circuit and Cathay Cinemas. This merger has resulted in creating the biggest single entity in the Malaysian cinema entertainment business.
GSC’s first cinema to operate in Malaysia was opened in Kota Kinabalu on 14 July 1981. With the opening of the 8-screen cinema exclusively in Tropicana City Mall on June 23, 2009, GSC operates the largest circuit with a total of 183 screens in 23 locations, all of which are located in prime sites in major cities and towns throughout the country.
