Unit 8 Assignment

Three types of computer system backup used are a full backup, incremental backup and differential backup. A full back is where all the files and folders, and the whole operating system configuration can backed up. This backup usually used for the initial backup where it needs to run at night and it will take the longest to run. The advantage of this backup it is a full backup of what was selected, which is everything for restore and easy to manage as the whole backup as a one full backup. The disadvantage of the full backup like mentioned above it will take a long time to backup everything on the machine and it will consumes most storage space compare to incremental and differential. The full backup will have the repeated backup files on every same task when used, this is where disk space is consumed the most cause of insufficient disk usage ("Types of Backup", 2014)

Incremental backup is backup of all changes made since the last backup. With the incremental backup it need a one full backup first and then subsequent backup are backing up just changes. The result of this backup is much faster than a full backup. It will used less disk space but the restore is slower because it needs the full backup restore and then the incremental backup applies ("Types of Backup", 2014)

Differential backup of all changes made since from the last full backup. This backup is also much faster and used less storage space than the full backup. The disadvantage if this backup is slower to restore, not as efficient as incremental backup with storage usage, restore needs a full backup copy and the differential need it for the restore. The usual backup setup is the rotation backup for every week with one full backup and after the full backup follow with differential or incremental backup ("Types of Backup", 2014)
