Selection Tools

There are three things that I would use when hiring for a supermarket. The first is completing an application. This can show that the applicant is able to read, write and understand basic written instructions, as well as showing that they are able to figure out solutions to issues that may arise. The second step I would use when hiring for a supermarket is an interview. This will allow the individual conducting interviews to ask a number of different questions to see what their responses are and why they believe they are qualified for the position they have applied for. The third step I would take is to contact references. This is a very important step in the hiring process. The references should be able to ensure that they are a reliable and hard worker. As with any job you need to ensure that the applicant has basic skills and knowledge of the company or industry, in this case a supermarket. I feel that these three tools would be absolutely beneficial during the hiring process in a supermarket. One of the main advantages of using these tools is being able to meet the applicants in person to see how they conduct themselves. I would also use these steps when hiring for my final project, but I would also include a few more steps. Such as an aptitude test. This is because holding a job in law enforcement is a dangerous job that requires individuals to be able to think quickly on their feet in a sometimes hostile environment. I would also include a background check. These individuals need to be trustworthy; I personally don’t believe that a person with a record of breaking laws in cut out for a career in law enforcement. I would include a medical and drug test as well. Applicants for this job cannot have their reactions hindered by medical problems or drug use.
