Healthcare manager for the Department of Veterans Affairs is the best career choice for me because my recent training in the Air Force has prepared me for this career field and I would like to give back and support those now serving our country. The health care industry has and will remain a huge part of employing millions of nurses, doctors, health specialists and many other health workers. To many, health care administrators are at the center of everything and is a career that continues to grow.

In this career field technology is something that every healthcare administrator and provider should be up to date on. Now under the Affordable Care Act, all U.S medical providers were required to convert to electronic health records by the beginning of 2014. And as a health administrator, everyone will have to stay up-to-date on the transition of patient records using the dynamic and evolving technology of today’s society. While in the military, I was also trained to be a certified medical technician. This gives me the option to take on patient care also, which means I'll need to understand the various technologies patients use to track their health or medications. These resources could include mobile apps, and maybe even video-conferencing software that connects housebound patients to physicians. As in many other career fields keeping up with technology is a required skill. The career education opportunities for this career field focus on how to plan, coordinate and oversee the effective and efficient delivery of health care. A health care administrator may be in charge of multiple groups or units, or may oversee the entire facility/hospital.
