Identify and explain key trends that are occurring in computer peripheral devices? How do these trends affect business uses of computers?

Key trends in computer peripherals are surprisingly limited to improvements on current technology with some exceptions. Existing peripheral improvements such as virtual keyboards, touch screens, graphics in 3d and 4k resolutions, wireless peripherals, wireless communication, and external storage are constantly improved. Lately, 3D Printing has made a breakthrough adding a new dimension. Small business and innovators can now access lower cost prototyping and manufacturing. Unfortunately one possible problem is duplication of copyrighted or contraband material. Another major innovation that is exploding is external device communication across platforms or devices. Small electronic devices that record data or provide services like cell phones, health monitoring devices and entertainment devices are developing cross platform communication unification.

Discuss important computer hardware developments that you expect to happen in the next 10 years? How will these affect the business use of computers?

Over the next ten years, integration of our external electronic devices to our main computers will allow interaction and information availability at nearly unimaginable levels if Moore’s law holds true or accelerates. A trend that I found interesting is no-touch interfaces. Greg Satell a contributor for Forbes stated “The basic pattern recognition technology has been advancing for generations and, thanks to accelerating returns, we can expect computer interfaces to become almost indistinguishable from humans in little more than a decade”(2013). Micro systems will communicate and translate data to business systems with the power of today’s full powered systems.
