As American we have a wide variety of options when it comes to eating breakfast and dinner. Most people don’t spend time thinking about where the meal came from. This can be a nutritional advantage and disadvantage. For example consumer may not know that farm raised salmon comes from the Pacific North west of the USA, brown rice and spinach is grown in California, olives from Italy, feta cheese from Greece, the fruits that we consume come from Chile and local farmers, and that the white wine is manufactured and shipped from France.

When salmon is farm-raised the fish can be monitored in low-density pens without the use of antibiotic, growth hormones and added pesticides. Brown rice mills in California have been noted the most advance in the world they use special equipment to package rice, sort, and mill with high quality standards. “In the USA, California rice has lower arsenic level than rice from Texas and Arkansas”, (www.usatoday.com, 2014). California is also known for producing fresh market bagged and clipped spinach. Spinach requires a uniformed moist soil in order to produce maximum leaf production. Planter must to care to avoid overwatering the plant in order to prevent soil-borne diseases and abiotic rotting of the crown, lower leaves, and roots.

Once olives are harvested they are transported to a processing plant where the olives are placed onto a conveyor belt where they are air blasted to rid them of any dirt particles.
