The Importance to Account for Military Property

Army regulation 600-20 states that military discipline is founded upon self-discipline, respect for properly constituted authority, and the embracing of the professional Army ethic with its supporting individual values. Military discipline will be developed by individual and group training to create a mental attitude resulting in proper conduct and prompt obedience to lawful military authority. The army value duty states to fulfill ones obligation while selfless service is to put the welfare of the nation, the Army, and your subordinates before ones own. In leaving my common access card at the detachment building, i failed to show military discipline and to live up to the army values. I had the option to call for assistance, but I did not call. It showed me accepting defeat which goes against the warriors ethos of never accepting defeat. This action also placed the lives of people in potential danger as it can be used to access government cyber domains.

The importance of having items issued by the Military accounted for is very important. If a person is always losing issued government property, it will always have an impact on his or her performance in both the long and short tem. At the end of the day, it is important to check for the items to be on your person as well as everything else that you has brought with that day. It is the job of not only yourself but also your duty to take responsibility and check not only your gear but the gear of the other soldiers. If the enemy obtains pieces of gear from you becaus it was left unsecure, it would endanger soldiers in your unit as well as fellow armed force members and government employees that may have a connection to you. Losing these items also have personal repercussions that can move from payment deduction to time being imprisioned to even the death of innocent people.
